INSTALL

Skis and snowboards are some of the easiest things to wrap: big, smooth, and mostly flat. The installation technique is the same for both—just repeat the process on your second ski.

For skis, we strongly recommend installing your topsheets before your bindings are mounted. Already mounted? No worries. See the mounted-ski instructions below.

1. Prep Your Skis or Snowboard

  • For snowboards, remove your bindings before installation.
  • For skis, install the topsheets before mounting your bindings whenever possible. If your bindings are already mounted, leave them in place and follow the additional steps in Step 5.
  • Thoroughly clean the entire topsheet, paying extra attention to the edges. Finish with the included alcohol wipe to remove any remaining dirt, grease, or residue. Allow the surface to dry completely.

2. Position the Topsheet

  • Lay the wrap over your ski or snowboard with the backing paper still attached.
  • Center the design and make sure the vinyl extends beyond the edges on all sides.
  • Once you're happy with the placement, use a strip of masking or painter’s tape across the middle to hold everything securely in position. This creates a hinge so you can install one half at a time without losing your alignment.

3. Install the First Half

  • Fold one half of the wrap back toward your center hinge.
  • Peel the backing paper away from that half and cut or tear off the exposed backing.
  • Starting at the center, slowly apply the vinyl toward the tip or tail.
  • Use the squeegee to press the vinyl down as you go, working from the center outward to push air toward the edges.
  • If you start to get a wrinkle or bubble, simply lift the vinyl back up and try again.

4. Install the Second Half

  • Remove your center tape.
  • Fold back the remaining half, remove the backing paper, and repeat the same process toward the opposite end.
  • Continue working from the center outward until the entire topsheet is applied.

5. If Your Ski Bindings Are Already Mounted

  • Before pressing the vinyl down over the binding area, locate where each binding will sit underneath the vinyl.
  • Cut an X in the vinyl over the binding. Make sure the X is smaller than the binding itself
  • Carefully push the binding up through the center of the X as you lower the vinyl onto the ski.
  • Use your squeegee to work the vinyl tightly around the entire perimeter of the binding.
  • Once everything is firmly pressed into place, use your sharp blade to carefully trim the vinyl in the seam between the binding and the ski.
  • Remove the excess vinyl around the binding and squeegee the remaining edge down firmly.
  • Repeat around each binding.

6. Heat and Seal

  • Once the wrap is completely installed, lightly warm the vinyl using a heat gun or hair dryer.
  • Go back over the entire surface with your squeegee while the material is warm, paying extra attention to the perimeter, tips, tails, and—on mounted skis—the edges around your bindings.
  • The heat helps the adhesive make a strong final bond.

7. Trim the Perimeter

  • Using a brand-new, very sharp blade, carefully trim the excess vinyl around the outside of your ski or snowboard.
  • Use the metal edge as your guide, keeping the blade at the same angle as the edge.
  • Take your time and use light pressure. You may need to go back over a few spots to clean up the cut.

8. Finish the Edges

  • Remove all excess vinyl and inspect the perimeter.
  • Apply a little more heat around the edges and firmly squeegee everything down one final time to create a strong seal.

9. Finish Up

  • For snowboards, pop out your mounting holes by pressing a screwdriver thru the holes, or cutting out with your Exacto knife. Reinstall your bindings.
  • For skis installed before mounting, your ski shop can now mount the bindings directly over the installed topsheet.
  • That's it. Fresh sticks.
